Our Journey

April 2003 - I start working as a teller at a credit union where Gavin is doing mortgages.  He invites me out with the group a lot because he has a huge crush on me!

August 2003 - Our first date.  To a baseball game, of course.

August 2004 - I get my first teaching job 2.5 hours away.  We do the long distance thing.

August 2005 - I get a new teaching job, an hour closer, but still long distance.

May 2006 - Gavin proposes after running my first 5K!

August 2006 - I get a teaching job where Gavin lives and move back!

October 2006 - Buy our house.

July 2007 - No more birth control.  Totally ok if I'm pregnant at my wedding and that way I would have the baby at the end of the school year.  We thought it would be that easy.  Silly us!

September 22, 2007 - Our wedding day!

October 2007 - August 2008 - Natural cycles, but something is not right.  Cycles lasting 45 - 93 days, no positive tests :(

August 2008 - First appointment with RE #1 (reproductive endocrinologist).  Do lots of testing.  I go under to have my tubes checked, all clear.

October 2008 - Gavin has surgery to repair varicocele.  Surgery works!

January 2009 - April 2009 -  3 IUI cycles with clomid, all negative

May 2009 - July 2009 - 3 IUI cycles with folistim, all negative

January 2010 - IVF cycle, BFN (big fat negative)

January 2010 - WTF (what the f happened) appointment with RE #1.  We are not happy with them, we walk out, I may have been crying).

February 2010 - May 2010 - I train for a marathon and finish my master's thesis to keep my mind off infertility.

April 2010 - I run 20 mile race and present my thesis!

May 2010 - I graduate with master's in special education

May 2010 (4 days before marathon) - meet with RE #2 and we love him.  Decide to do an IUI with different meds after marathon.  I am on cycle day 42 so doc says do pregnancy test to make sure it's negative and he will give meds to induce cycle.

3 days before marathon -  positive pregnancy test (must have peed too long, will try again in the morning)

2 days before marathon - positive test again.  This time tell Gavin and he suggests buying more expensive tests.  Take a more expensive test at work and text him a picture and "WTF?";  still positive.

1 day before marathon - go in for bloodwork to confirm pregnancy.  They guess that I am about 5 weeks.  Doctor says not to run the marathon.

1 week later - Doctor ups my thyroid meds and starts progesterone, hormones a little off, but other than that things look good

1 week later - no heartbeat and things are no longer progressing, miscarriage.  I have a panic attach in doctor's office.  D and C scheduled for 2 weeks later.

July 2010 - January 2011 - Natural cycles, grieving, and healing

February 2011 - October 2011 - Try new meds and IUI with new doc 3 times.  All BFN

January 2012 - Decide to sell our house and pursue an egg donor

May 2012 - Consult with RE #2 to start egg donor process
Our house sells in 13 days!

June 2012 -  Sonna-hystogram (tubes and uterus clear)

July 2012 - Hubby has back-up sample frozen for upcoming IVF with donor eggs; close on our house & move in with the in-laws
